ScrollSense
Privacy policy

Attention data should not become advertising data.

ScrollSense is designed to protect attention without building a remote profile of what you watch. Most app data is processed and stored locally on your Android device.

Effective date: 26 July 2026
Plain-English summary: ScrollSense does not sell personal data and does not use behavioural data for advertising. Scroll and focus history, calendar-derived suggestions, settings, and selected apps stay on your device. Limited data leaves the device only for account sign-in, weather retrieval, and purchases.

1. Who is responsible

ScrollSense is operated by Mohammed Younis in Dublin, Ireland. Questions about this policy or personal data can be sent to mohammedbasman9@gmail.com.

Accessibility content

ScrollSense may examine view types, bounds, identifiers, and short interface labels needed to classify the current screen. It is not designed to collect or retain the content of comments, captions, messages, usernames, searches, or posts. Accessibility information used for classification is not sent to ScrollSense servers.

Audio and notifications

During a black pause, ScrollSense may temporarily request audio focus or interact with an active media session so protected-app audio stops during the intervention. The app does not store or transmit notification content. ScrollSense also creates its own focus reminders and service-status notifications when those features are enabled.

3. How data is used

  • Provide Attention Mode, Focus Mode, focus checks, breaks, and local insights.
  • Authenticate your account and protect access to subscription features.
  • Show local weather atmosphere and calendar-based focus suggestions when you enable those permissions.
  • Maintain reliability, recover active focus state, and respond to settings you choose.

ScrollSense does not sell personal data, rent it, build advertising profiles, or use your focus and scrolling history for targeted advertising.

4. Services that receive limited data

  • Google Sign-In and Firebase Authentication: account identity and authentication metadata.
  • Open-Meteo: rounded approximate coordinates and standard request metadata needed to return local weather.
  • Google Play Billing and RevenueCat: purchase and subscription information when premium purchases are enabled.

These providers process data under their own privacy terms. ScrollSense does not give them local scroll history, focus-session details, calendar text, or installed-app lists.

5. Permissions

ScrollSense requests permissions only when they support a visible feature:

  • Accessibility: detect meaningful swipes and identify supported short-form feed surfaces.
  • Display over other apps: show acknowledgement prompts, colour desaturation, focus checks, and black pauses.
  • Calendar: scan upcoming events locally for optional focus suggestions.
  • Approximate location: request local weather. Precise location is not required for this purpose.
  • Notifications and foreground service: keep active protection noticeable and reliable while another app is open.
  • Notification access and audio control: interrupt protected-app media during black pauses without recording audio.
  • Installed apps: present eligible apps in watched-app and Path Out selectors.

You can review or revoke optional permissions in Android Settings. Some related features will stop working when permission is removed.

6. Retention and deletion

  • Attention-history events used for weekly calculations are kept locally for up to seven days, with size limits and duplicate filtering.
  • The local weather snapshot is normally refreshed after 30 minutes.
  • Focus periods, preferences, and recent local logs remain on your device until they are pruned, reset, or deleted by you.
  • Your Firebase authentication account remains until you delete it.
  • Purchase records may be retained by Google Play and RevenueCat as required for billing, fraud prevention, tax, and legal compliance.

In ScrollSense, open Settings > Account management > Delete account to delete your Firebase identity and clear ScrollSense data stored on that device. You can also use the account deletion page.

7. Security

ScrollSense minimises remote collection, uses platform authentication and billing providers, and keeps behavioural records in app-private local storage. No system is completely secure, but access is limited to what is needed for the app to function.

8. Children

ScrollSense is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has supplied personal data, contact us so it can be addressed.

9. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, restrict, object to, export, or delete personal data. Because most ScrollSense data stays on your phone, you control it through the app's reset and deletion tools. For identity-related requests, contact mohammedbasman9@gmail.com.

10. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as ScrollSense changes. The effective date above will be revised, and material changes will be communicated in the app or store listing where appropriate.
